DEEP DESPAIR

jennysidebar_button_SAT-2[1]

I am happy to be joining Saturday Centus at Jenny Matlock’s Off on My Tangent again this week.  The prompt is “Dear John”, and the word limit is 60!!  And I thought the100 word limit was difficult!  (I think I may have an extra word in my little contribution this week!  Please don’t kick me out!)  I am seldom serious about anything, so I hope that you will accept my little contribution as a joke.   I am not a writer, much less a poet, and I certainly wasn’t striving to be the next Poet Laureate!

DEEP DESPAIR

John, dear John, won’t you come home?

John, dear John, don’t leave me alone.

Your absence I cannot abide.

I need you here by my side.

John, dear John, do you care

about the depths of my despair?

My heart is about to break -

You are my one and only mate.

So please come back, my John, dear John,

Before I depart with your best friend, Don!

Thank you for coming to visit me and my dear John.  Laurie

Forget about Don! If he is John's best friend, he's not a good catch either!!!

This prompt has been so much fun! Your addition is priceless. But, I think I'm with Judie. His best friend might not be such a great catch!

Namaste.........cj

HAHAHAHAHA ! That was a good laugh Laurie...I love twists that are clever and funny and don't you ever tell yourself again you are not a writer..."the proof is in the puddin'" as someone once said. You're great at this !!!

I admire any attempt to write verse for these weekly exercises! And I think humour is always a good way to go; there are usually enough sad stories.
As to the content of your SC-text, I am inclined to advise your protagonist to move on to some other guy and leave both John and Don behind!
Best wishes,
Anna

Great job! You are definitely a writer! I had to smile a little at your other post about your IC. I, too, have things like the laundry call me, and keep me away from what I truly love and want to do...finish my memoir!! So, why am I blogging instead of that?! I just thought of something....you know how there are "Sports Psychiatrists".....I think we need "Writers" ones, too!

That is too funny! I went to school with some twins named Don and John. The last line cracked me up, picturing them. Love it!
