THE INITIATION

This has been a private blog for a couple of years.  My inner critic makes it difficult for me to share this blog with others.  With this post, I am going public with my battle against my inner critic.  The Saturday Centus at Jenny Matlock’s Off On My Tangent is my reason for bringing my battle out in the open.  I wanted to play along, but it’s not much fun to play in the game if nobody else can visit my link.  Since this is the first time I’ve participated in Saturday Centus, I hope I’ve done it right.  Those of you who have visited my other blog, Bargain Hunting and Chatting With Laurie, already know that a maximum of 100 words is almost an impossibility for me, but that’s the limit for participation in Saturday Centus.  Thank you for hosting Jenny. The prompt for this week was provided by Jeff at Tennessee Mudbug and appears in bold print in my contribution.

THE INITIATION

In their tree house, the boys sat in a circle around a large stone.  Would Jason pass the test?  He looked nervous as he wiped the sweat from his forehead on his shirt sleeve.

Mark solemnly asked, Who lives within the stone?.  A quiet tension filled the room as Jason studied the stone.

Months ago, the vote had been unanimous.  To become a member, a boy would have to see the image in the stone.

When Jason finally shouted, It’s a tiger!, there was a combined sigh of relief from the boys, and they joyfully welcomed Jason into The Tigers Den.

Thank you for your visit to my “other” blog.  Remember, it took courage for me to bring this blog out of hiding, so please be kind.  Laurie

Laurie! Welcome! I think we are so often our own worse enemies.

I feel like that sometimes about my own writing and then I tell myself to stop...we are all unique in the way we craft words and express feelings and emotions.

You hold your head up, girl, and don't apologize for your writing.

Ever.

To anyone.

You can write and I can tell you enjoy it!

Do it for the joy. The confidence will build!
