DONALD’S DAY ON THE FARM

Rebecca at Bluebell Books kindly invited me to join Short Story Slam.  This is my first contribution to Short Story Slam, so I hope I’ve done it correctly.  The picture prompt is shown below, and the challenge is Children’s Literature.

DONALD DUCK

DONALD’S DAY ON THE FARM
Photographer, Donald Duck,
Isn’t having very good luck.
The sky was dark and very cloudy
And the animals were much too rowdy.
His day on the farm wasn’t going just right,
Until the sun came out, and the farm turned bright.
-----
A rainbow appeared when the sky turned sunny,
And the doe, the skunk, and even the bunny
Politely posed for him to snap their picture,
Looking fine, despite the strange mixture.
Then, with a funny face, Chipmunk distracted the duck,
And the skunk sprayed a scent, causing Doe to buck.
-----
.
“I can’t take all of this,” Donald quacked with a sigh,
And away he waddled without saying goodbye.
Donald had never taken a skunk’s picture before,
And he knew he couldn’t stand that smell anymore.
Holding his nose, he quickly went down the hill,
And they all heard him mutter through his bright yellow bill,
“I don’t ever intend to come back to this farmland,
But if I do, I’m bringing a battery-powered fan!”

I wish you could see the grin on my face right now. This is so cute! That's something that I have never been able to do, write a little child's story.
