RAISING A TEEN CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH

Again, she’s given us one hundred words, plus the three word prompt!  Thanks Jenny!

GOOD NEWS?

(Prompt:  Surprise! I’m pregnant)

The minute my teenage daughter walked in the back door, I could tell something was wrong.

“Mom, sit down.  I have something to tell you.”

Oh no, this is bad, I thought, as I sat in a chair.

“I hit a pedestrian with the car.”

“Oh no, is he alright?”

“He died.”

“Oh Dear God.”

“I’m being charged with manslaughter.”

I began sobbing.

“Not really,” she said. “Surprise! I’m pregnant!”

“Thank God,” I replied. “Why would you tell me such a horrible story?”

“If I had begun with the truth, I’m sure your response to my news wouldn’t have been thank God.”

PREGNANT TEEN

Thankfully, this piece is fiction.  If you want to read about who else is pregnant, go get the links at Jenny Matlock Off On My Tangent.  Thanks so much for visiting my blog.  Laurie

Love this...and will have to remember the idea of presenting really bad news before the real news for other situations...might just work!

Clever she was, but I can't imagine everyone's reaction would be as positive if put through the mangler like that..! Your pacing was spot on too.

Great job !
Clever of you to play on the worst of the two, then tell the truth. Kinda reminds me of a scene in "JUNO" when she tells her parents.

OMG! This was hilarious! I shouldn't have read this because I haven't written my little story yet, but this was absolutely superb!

I have a daughter that would have used this exact approach!

Really, really creative.

Very funny and clever - as a piece of fiction. Hope my children never do that to me.

Thank you for visiting my post, that is actually two! If you haven't looked at Part Two, take a peek.

Best wishes,
