I am happy to be joining Saturday Centus at Jenny Matlock’s Off on My Tangent again this week. The prompt is “Dear John”, and the word limit is 60!! And I thought the100 word limit was difficult! (I think I may have an extra word in my little contribution this week! Please don’t kick me out!) I am seldom serious about anything, so I hope that you will accept my little contribution as a joke. I am not a writer, much less a poet, and I certainly wasn’t striving to be the next Poet Laureate!
DEEP DESPAIR
John, dear John, won’t you come home?
John, dear John, don’t leave me alone.
Your absence I cannot abide.
I need you here by my side.
John, dear John, do you care
about the depths of my despair?
My heart is about to break -
You are my one and only mate.
So please come back, my John, dear John,
Before I depart with your best friend, Don!
Thank you for coming to visit me and my dear John. Laurie
