Life has taken me away from blogging lately, and I’m glad to be again joining 100 Word Challenge (which has become a 50 word challenge this week) at Julia’s Place.
THE ALTERNATIVE
(PROMPT: The Autumn Leaves)
Raking the Autumn leaves takes so long.
I constantly battle them on the ground.
But when the Autumn leaves are gone,
Old Man Winter will come around.
The Autumn leaves had been my foe,
But they aren’t so bad when I recall
The bitter cold, the ice and snow.
Then I gladly rake the leaves that fall.
Thank you for coming to visit my blog. Laurie

I like this poem, and I like that you are keeping your inner critic trapped in a sugar bowl. Keep writing and don't listen that wicked voice.

I like your battle with the leaves. Winter is a good counterpoint.
I remember that foe. Oddly, now that I live in the woods, I never have to rake around the house. The wind carries the leaves away. Thank goodness!
Enjoyed this, lovely, Robin
VERY nice! You've really captured what so many feel around this time of year...or time of life ;-)
First time to enter this challenge and it's great to be introduced writers like yourself.
I really like the simplicity and feelings in this poem.
I really like this, Laurie. It flows very naturally and reminds us that there is always something to be grateful for!
I liked this a lot; the last line tied it all up so neatly. As a child I remember grumbling about having to rake the leaves in Autumn, but it really wasn't so bad! Great post.
This is great. It almost makes the idea of raking leaves fun...maybe late :o) x
oops that should read "later"
Hello Laurie!
I'm so glad to see you back. I was getting worried about your absence!
This is a great poem & a good reminder not to grumble about what we have for worst may be on it's way!
