For Saturday Centus, Jenny has given a very difficult prompt ~ at least, it was difficult for me. I’m sure the other participants breezed through this with great stories and verse.
CREAM SOMETHING, OR SOMEONE!
(100 words, plus “cream together butter and sugar”)
On his birthday, my husband remarked that he missed his mother’s chocolate cake.
I called his mother to request the recipe.
“I’ll give it to you, but you won’t be able to make it.”
That night, my husband choked down his cake, and thanked me for trying.
When his sister called, I told her about the cake disaster.
“Mother has never given that recipe to anybody without changing the ingredients.”
In the background, I heard their mother, “Ask if she remembered I said, ‘cream together butter and sugar’".
At that moment, butter and sugar weren’t what I wanted to cream! laurie

I know a few people like that. One of my Bunco ladies made these really good cookies. I called and asked for the recipe. After I tasted them when they came out of the oven they tasted horrible. I took them to Bunco anyway and told everyone it was her recipe. Serves her right!~Ames
Nice take on prompt
Oh, what a mean old MIL ...how totally selfish she is to deprive her son of his favourite cake ...
Rod's sweet mum was always very gracious about sharing her favorite dessert recipes. They never tasted quite as good as when they were made with her loving hands.
Oh, what lack of faith to keep a favourite recipe to yourself. I have heard of recipes so jealously guarded they're lost when the keeper of the secret passes.
I hear ya. Really?! If you're gonna share a recipe, then share it..and if not, then just say no. Great job!
Ha, I really enjoyed this! Great illustration you added too, a perfect example of "cream". ;)
Talk about the cruelty of women to other women!
But, listen, I've got a woman from Hell living in my apartment building and every time I book the laundry-room, she's out after blood! My blood!
They're out there. The she-devils!
Fun post!
Best wishes,
Anna

This was brilliant!
I love your little play on words here...and I used to have a Mother-in-Law EXACTLY like that!
Perfect writing.
