I am not a woman of few words. It is just so hard for me to say anything with 100 words, but trying to is good exercise for my mind, so I’m linking to Saturday Centus at Jenny Matlock Off On My Tangent.
DETOURED DESTINY
(100 words + Prompt: The number you have reached is no longer in service)
Attending a bachelorette party, Susan sat alone while the others danced.
John was having drinks with co-workers. Left alone while the other men danced, he introduced himself to Susan at the next table.
When he asked for her phone number, she wrote it on a napkin.
Susan was hurt when he didn’t call.
John was angry when he heard, “the number you have reached is no longer in service”.
Months later, Susan saw John. “Why didn’t you call?”
“You gave me a bogus number.”
She looked at the napkin from his wallet. The smeared ink caused the “8” to become a “3”.
They dated, married, and lived happily ever after.
Thank you for stopping by. Be sure to go read the other Saturday Centus posts. You can get the links at Jenny Matlock Off On My Tangent. Laurie
